Rethinking design with the same elements

“Rethinking design with the same elements” was the idea that led us to create the Mudra collection stool .

The Mudra Chair has a structural feature that makes it versatile: it has three flat sides (back, bottom, and front), allowing it to be placed in different positions and transformed into an object with new functions. For example, when the chair is placed on its front side, the back side faces upward, transforming into a support surface similar to a side table.

Exploring these possibilities, we began to play with the chair's arrangement in different positions. In this process, we discovered that rotating and resting two chairs together created a shape that evoked the idea of a stool . In this way, from the same basic design, we were able to create a new piece within the collection.

This design exercise reaffirms one of our philosophies at ANKA Taller : design isn't always about adding new elements, but rather rethinking what already exists with a fresh perspective.

Here's a video showing the process and the final result!
